SUMMER COFFEEHOUSE SERIES
OPEN MIC POETRY READING

Callanwolde’s popular summertime coffee house series returns with live music, coffee and refreshments and open-mic poetry readings. Held in the unique setting of the Callanwolde Library, the evening begins at 7:30 with live acoustic music and at 8:15 the open mic readings are open to poets who would like to read their original poetry. Rhythmic acoustic guitar player Veronika Jackson sings with the flavor of blues and with a sprinkling of storytelling that touches the heart. The first ten poets to call and sign up at 404-872-5338 ext. 228 will read for 5 minutes. Tickets are sold at the door. $5 General Admission, $3 Students/Seniors/Members. www.callanwolde.org

Georgia Center for the Book presents a reading by Georgia Poet Laureate David Bottoms, who will read from The Onion’s Dark Core, a collection of essays composed by the poet. From Kodac: This show, which was inspired by Neil Young's recent solo performance at the Fox, will start at 8 pm and will have a $5 cover. I want to put together a show in an arty atmosphere, where I do all the things I do in performance. That is play guitar, sing, tell stories and perform spoken word. I will tell the story of my experience in the German Irish Pub and much more. 120 Sycamore Place, Decatur.

Free poetry reading at 7:00 PM, Saturday, July 24th, at Chocolate Perks, 3160 Main Street, Duluth. Event hosted by Private Poetry Unveiled -- a group of Gwinnett poets. New readers welcomed and encouraged. First 10 poets will be accepted. Program will be poets reading their original poetry for 5 minutes each - with a possible open mic after the program.
