DECATUR BOOK FESTIVAL
DOWNTOWN DECATUR
Natasha Trethewey, Patricia Smith, James Allen Hall, C. Dale Young and dozens of local poets will all be featured at the annual Decatur Book Festival. For a full schedule of the weekend events, visit www.decaturbookfestival.com. There will be poetry all day Saturday and Sunday on the Poetry Atlanta Stage at Java Monkey Coffee House. On Saturday night, there will be a slam at 8 p.m. and on Sunday night, Patricia Smith will read during the open mic at Java Monkey.

POETRY AT CALLANWOLDE
FEATURING ANN LYNN & LYNN PEDERSON
Ann Lynn's article about her poetry-writing workshops for female veterans appeared in the May/June Poets & Writers Magazine. Her poetry has been published in Poetry East, Many Mountains Moving, The Christian Science Monitor and elsewhere, and Finishing Line Press released her chapbook In the Butterfly House in 2009. She was featured at the New Trier Literary Festival in Illinois, and was a Southern Women Writers Conference Emerging Writers Contest finalist.
Lynn Pedersen, a resident of Atlanta, is a graduate of the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Writing Program. Her chapbook Theories of Rain was published by Main Street Rag in 2009 as part of the Editor’s Choice Chapbook Series. Her poems, essays, and reviews have appeared in New England Review, Poet Lore, Southern Poetry Review, Palo Alto Review, Comstock Review, Chattahoochee Review and Ecotone. $5 General Admission, $3 Students/Seniors/Members. MEMORIAL POETRY READING FOR TURNER CASSITY
CALLANWOLDE FINE ARTS CENTER
On Wednesday, September 16 at 7:30 pm, a poetry reading will be held in memory of Turner Cassity, poet and a co-founder of the Callanwolde Poetry Reading Series, to include Cassity's poems and other poems for the occasion. The public is invited to participate in the reading. The reading will be held in the Conservatory. Admission and parking are free.
